For the launch of CoverCove, I’ll personally introduce to you the three main things you can get from this blog.
Cove Stove
The “Cove Stove” series of posts features any person who emails me at suggest@covercove.com, and gives me permission to show his / her videos to be posted as featured musician. Kinda like your “Featured Artist”, or “Hot Seat” portion. I’ll try my best to interview the person. It’s called “Cove Stove” because it gives the impression that “something’s cooking.”
Cove Challenge
If you read my post in Half-crazy about CoverCove, I mentioned about pitching songs to be revived by you guys. People who will respond to the challenge will be featured under this section. Email to suggest@covercove.com your suggested songs, or renditions of the cove challenge’s song.
Much Coveted
Every month, yours truly will select a “musician of the month” based on the previous month’s comments / responses and YouTube views. I’ll be encouraging you, our readers, to *bump* on a post (just post a comment, and put anything in it) to show your support to the musician.
So that’s basically it. Later on, I’ll be posting two song challenges which you can participate in.
OK, the idea about a “Cover Idol” type of website was a bit uncool because, first off, there’s no prize for winning entries, and it just sucks that one person gets to choose the top three to be polled out. I don’t want to be a 3rd-rate Simon Cowell for YouTube videos. What I’ll do instead is maintain a blog with categories being the artist and title of the song, and I’ll do reviews of them, just like your old blogger / critic. Maybe someday, if the blog does become big, we can set up cyber-competitions for these untapped talents.
So, like this post’s title says, the name of the site will be covercove.com. I actually like the idea that the site’s name is an alliteration, and I can’t f***ing believe that the domain is available! And since I’m a Dreamhoster, and I haven’t used my free domain from the package, the domain setup really came in handy.
So guys, if you want your covers reviewed or shown to the entire blogging community, aside from being hidden inside YouTube, try emailing me your YouTube video links, or your videos files themselves (email me first before sending them to me, OK?), or suggest a song for me to pitch on the website. Email me any stuff (aside from SPAM) to suggest@covercove.com. Be the first to be featured in CoverCove.com.
Get out of the shower. Uncover your talent!
Just a booster / motivation for you guys, I present to you, the best cover artist I’ve heard so far, David Choi:
